ELF Matte Lip Colors are jumbo sized retractable lip pencils supposedly enriched with Vitamin A, C & E and are meant to moisturize and hydrate your lips all day. ELF is a super affordable makeup line with these matte lip colors retailing for $3 each. I purchased this one at Target. I love discovering affordable and pigment rich matte lip products and this ELF matte lip color didn’t disappoint.
In terms of how they wear, once applied it looks matte but not that dry matte. It accentuated the fine lines on my lips although the lines disappear and look less obvious once I’d pressed my lips together.
These lip pencils are the kind you can twist up, which makes it very convenient when compared to products that need to be sharpened. They are semi-opaque in color payoff, however can be buildable to your preferred intensity. The finish is completely matte (👇if the lip swatch looks shiny it’s because I used a lip balm before the swatch). I didn’t notice any particular scent with this product.
I don’t think they apply smoothly on bare lips. e.l.f. Matte Lip Colors glides onto the lips without tugging. The pointed tip of a brand new stick allows for easy control when applying the product, however over time as the tip dulls down, it gets increasingly difficult to have good control of the placement of the product on the lips.
I also didn’t find this product to be moisturizing on its own. I feel the need to either place a lip balm underneath the lip color or a gloss on top for some moisture. As you can tell from the photo above, this product will stick to any dry patches on the lips, so it is very important to exfoliate the lips before applying. The wear time of the product with talking, eating and drinking is between 3-4 hours.
Praline is kind of a pinky beige nude. This is perfect for people who are light/medium skin tone…..this is a great shade to wear out on the town…it’s highly pigmented I love it.
